Last weekend (April 11, 2015) me and the rest of the Red Bike & Green-Atlanta community met at Gordon White Park in the West End to take over the streets of Atlanta. This was their 4 year Bikerversary!! As this was my first time being apart of and supporting such a wonderful event and I was lucky enough to share this moment with a few of my close friends. It’s just something amazingly beautiful to be surrounded by so many beautiful black people enjoying the lovely, warm sunny Saturday morning/afternoon and enjoying one others company. That’s what I call coming together, showing up and showing out! Community, that’s what I wanted when I moved to Atlanta and that’s what this feels like. A Community!
After our ten mile or so bike ride we made our final destination for the AfterRide party to CITY OF INK where there was a backyard set up with music from dj mikeflo ( dead prez). There was also a libation bar, raffle and giveaways and not to forget a lovely spread of colorful and delicious food by Mystic Roots. I Would love to see many more of my lovely black folks come together and ride, every second Saturday is when they’ll be having community rides in Atlanta until October 2015. Go check out Red Black & Green- Atlanta for more details. Let’s ride and stay healthy!
